A public hearing will be held on Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp.’s plans to build two new structures at Canalside.
The one-hour public meeting will be held 6 p.m. Jan. 4 in the Central Library.
The waterfront agency plans to build the Union Block building just north of the Naval Park, along the Commercial Slip, and a second building, to be called the Pavilion, nearby at the western end of the Central Wharf.
Both historically-inspired buildings will offer shelter, restrooms, gathering space and seasonal programming.
The waterfront agency on Monday approved $12 million to construct the two buildings being designed by HHL Architects.
The buildings are expected to open to the public in summer 2019.
