Hall of Philosophy is a continuation of the firm’s work with the Chautauqua Institution. Over the past few years, HHL has designed multiple room upgrades at
the Institution’s historic Athenaeum Hotel.
Buffalo-based Green & Wicks Architects, was selected in the early 1900’s to develop a new pavilion design for this important community. The historic structure
was constructed between 1906-1908.
For the study, HHL engaged ATG to create a detailed scan/3D model of the facility to create as-built drawings. The study evaluated the historic timber and concrete elements structural suitability, and recommended repair and restoration measures. The report also suggested restoration tasks for the historic mosaic floor tile panels, recessed in the concrete floor, as well as toilet room upgrades, lighting enhancements, and roof restoration.
