The Cornell Industrial Labor Relations department was relocated into a renovated office suite in the historic Market Arcade building in Buffalo, NY. The renovation consisted of demolishing the existing suite down to the core and shell building components. Offices were placed at the perimeter with projecting, small fin-like walls, each with a different coordinating accent color. Meeting rooms and open office spaces were also incorporated into the plan to accommodate Cornell’s needs.
Existing brick walls were kept exposed to add an industrial, loft-style aesthetic. Large art display walls were created for the space with accent lighting to illuminate them. “Cornell red” was included as the main accent color as a tribute to the University, displayed in accent carpeting, ceilings, and wall colors.
