HHL Architects designed a field house addition to the college’s main gymnasium, the Koessler Athletic Center, to meet the growing need for student recreation, intramural and program activities. This multipurpose facility includes basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, with an accessory climbing wall and batting cage net. A pre-engineered metal building envelope was clad with masonry and metal fenestration to achieve a harmonious scale with the surrounding residential neighborhood.
We also converted two underutilized second floor gymnasiums into a Student Fitness Center. One area was dedicated for free-weights, while the other was designed for cardiovascular and aerobic training.
