HHL Architects was teamed with two architectural firms to assist with the design of this twelve-story mixed use project in Downtown Buffalo. The project was developed by Uniland Development, who engaged Diamond Schmitt Architects to design the core and shell. HHL worked for Diamond Schmitt to coordinate local compliance and historic approvals. The project was to creatively ‘reuse’ a 100-year old two-story building into the ground levels of the high rise. The solution was to incorporate the historic terracotta façade of the original building into the new glass and metal panel modern structure.
Delaware North was selected to move its headquarters and occupy the top six stories of the high rise. Delaware North engaged Gensler to develop interior improvements, while Gensler engaged HHL to be the local partner due to HHL’s 30-year relationship with Delaware North. HHL shared the construction document and administration responsibilities with Gensler for this successful office build-out, and continues to now design renovations within these new headquarters facilities.
