This new “Amherst Commons Apartments,” at 47 East Amherst Street, is located in Buffalo’s Central Park neighborhood, on the east side of Main Street near the Amherst Street Metro Rail Station, on the site of a former bowling alley. It will be a multi-family affordable housing development. There will be a total of 133 units with a mix of one-, two-, three- bedroom apartments. The complex will consist of one “C”-shaped 3-story building. It’s centered on Amherst Street, with the main entry in a similar location as the original bowling alley and wraps along Pannell Street on the west and Holden Street on the east. This apartment complex will be ADA accessible and have community space for the tenants.
Additional site amenities include a tenant playground, exterior and interior bicycle storage and landscaped walks with seating and art features. Landscaped parking spaces will include 10 HC spaces. Exterior finishes will include brick, cultured stone and stucco.
