HHL Architects was engaged to design the new home of the Buffalo Center for Arts & Technology (BCAT). It is located on the ground and lower levels of Artspace Buffalo Lofts, designed by HHL.

The BATC is a major collaboration between the Manchester Bidwell Corporation and Artspace Projects, Inc. For the first time in the country, these two national programs will be co-located adding increased richness to proposed programs which will build off of the excitement already underway at the Buffalo Artspace Lofts. The BCAT will house a variety of educational and training programs that will benefit youths at-risk of dropping out of high school and adults who are either unemployed or underemployed.

The design takes advantage of the 14’- ceiling on the ground floor storefront for the classroom and laboratory spaces, along with the entry lobby gallery space. A new open stair connects the program space down to the support and administrative spaces located on the lower level.
