HHL Architects was selected by the developer to participate in a national search for a specialized high-rise, condominium design architect, and then in turn assist them with the design and development of this 23-story luxury residential tower along Buffalo’s historic Delaware Avenue. From Toronto, Diamond + Schmitt Architects, was selected to lead the design.
HHL Architects participated in the planning and design sessions, collaborating on the building design. HHL led the public approvals process and was the local design representative. The new building was planned to replace a 2-story restaurant and its surface parking with 68 luxury flats, each with spectacular views toward downtown, the nearby Olmsted-designed parks, and Lake Erie/Niagara River waterfront. Two underground parking levels were provided. The public lobby space included a glass, highly transparent “Garden Room” with views of Gates Circle. The Garden Room included a 20’ by 40’ bio-filter wall to clean the air and provide a visual “landscape” from both inside and outside the front of the space.
